How to say Goodbye!

Our little house has served us well. It will be hard to leave it. When you start your life over and are lucky enough to be able to do it with some level of comfort, you are blessed.

When I purchased it for the girls and I, it was with the hope of finding a place we could turn into a home. We worked hard at creating an oasis, a safe refuge from the upheaval of the previous few years. We had recently dealt with the passing of my parents and my marriage was over. All that in the span of a year. We needed some calm.

This house gave us that. We learned to be creative on a budget, build what we needed and become strong independent women!

Built our first garden bed! This little space got me hungry for more! Two tomato plants outgrew the confines of the garden and one acorn squash plant took over the yard! I was hooked again.

I am grateful for what this place taught us and will miss it. We turned it into a little jewel of comfort. It’s where I learned that I was made a pretty tough stuff. I’ve learned to run a business alone while being a single mom and homeowner here. The last 4 years have been filled with drastic ups and downs. We not only survived but grew so much stronger for it.

The next few months will be filled with organizing the move.

  • Having the grand piano move before the rest of the stuff
  • Having an electrician come in and fix some issues
  • Having a pest control company come in before we do!
  • Having the water system updated
  • Having hardwood flooring installed in Lizzie’s bedroom
  • Having wood stove brought up to code

All except the wood stove and water should be done before we actually move in! Will be fun to organize. Thank goodness Katie is good at making lists! But we know how to get things done. We’ve gotten really good at it 🙂

So now we are ready to start a new adventure, more confident and resilient than before. Bring on the challenges! Bring on the hard work! Homesteading, here we come!
