Today I write a short blog. My heart’s not into it. So I will make time to catch everyone up on our adventures very soon but for today, just one piece of news.
Katie and Lizzie are in Florida enjoying some well deserved time off. I have been taking care of the farm and school, and enjoying a little quiet time myself.
Today after barn chores, I went to vote. Driving back I saw road kill in front of our second driveway. So I drove up and was distressed to see that Coheed, our long haired kitty was hit by a car. Cambria, our little female was standing guard. I took her back to the barn and sat for a bit to absorb this.
We’ve lost 8 turkeys and a pig already. We’ve only been here 6 months. Hopefully we do better in the second half of the year because losing this cat is harder. You know that barn cats don’t have the same survival rate as house cats. You know the odds are good that some mishap might befall them. But I’m still surprised by how sad this makes me. Just before I left to vote, I had to remove him from my car. The cats love jumping into vehicles as soon as you open the door. Oh well.
So on with the day.
Will tell you all about our Thanksgiving and fall plans soon.
